Cheerful Angel

This is some of the work of Cicely Mary Barker. She was a British illustrator and drew fairies and angel, I will include a link to her biography and list of her work. Since she is probably not in the public domain I just wanted to highlight the beauty of her work and suggest not reproducing it.

No doubt she is a cheerful angel, speaking love to a little boy. And for that she goes along with out study of Proverbs, ” A cheerful heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22

Look at those cheeks, we could all use an angel like her to brighten our day and be good medicine, maybe she’s just what the doctor ordered or better still who the Lord commands.

A Mother’s Reflection

947bcb7760521c6369a6042bdb825ac1

Continuing our month over mothers and proverbs, because God wants us to be Proverbs 31 women, not with unreachable expectations but know how to rest in and trust Him. Our proverb is a good one, ” As water reflect the face, so one’s life should reflect the heart. ” Proverbs 27:19

This is a lovely image, perhaps from a post card or lithograph and is early 20th century judging from the toys, I do not have an artists name.

the light and love of Jesus beams from the angel, and from mother to child. The baby is a reflection her and her love with her husband and God. He truly intended and implemented a perfect plan for humanity, and what a blessing His returning would be for believers, a veritable heaven on earth.

I pray for parents and children all the time. Many are so ill, and many mothers at their side. It doesn’t mean He does love them or care, quite opposite, He is there in the midst of a fallen earth and is able to restore all things.

Be blessed ant let your face reflect our heart, and His because your as His child. And angels are always charged and at your side.

Sense of Sight

sense-of-sight

I dare not look away,

Neither night nor day,

My heart beats for Him,

And belongs to Him.

If I step aside for a moment,

It truly longs for Him.

When we are together,

Or should I be away from Him,

It is singing songs for Him.

And He also sings them.

I dare not look away,

Neither night nor day,

From a piercing but loving gaze.

My eyes behold His face,

I hold hold His hand

And He walks with me always.

No matter the day,

Fierce devotion, will arise.

And I look to heaven,

And open my eyes.

He is my heaven,

My sense of sight,

And I love Him,

With all my heart and might.

I dare not look away,

Neither night nor day,

From the protector and perfecter of my praise.

Turning my eyes to Jesus,

And He walks with me always.

For Cynthia, who inspired me. A Mother’s Day Bonus from me.

Mother, May I? Give You Wisdom?

6cf804a17366a30a34189ee9177de6d2

I love this angel over the baby. It is almost as if she is asking to hold it. Currently, I have not located an artist but it appears to be very old. Possibly, even the late 1800’s but it could also be a reproduction. The majority of these are public domain, unless they are from a more well known artist, then they may be copyrighted.

However, most are safe to print off for use as cards or tags, even a print would be beautiful in a nursery, and maybe, even baby shower invitations, they can be uploaded as well. I have make lots of picture with verses to use on my blog. You can copy and paste in e-mails also. You can try Canva or Adobe Spark, they are free or you can upgrade.

Since we are celebrating mothers, I hope you will share an angel, if not a blog post, there are plenty on my Pinterest board. And who knows, you may even want to spend an afternoon with your mother making your own board. Use the following poem if you like.

Mother, May I? Give you wisdom?

Mother, may I guard your child?

Just sit and rest a while.

Angels are often watching babies,

You’ll see it in their smile.

Fresh from heaven, innocent and new,

Mother, may I guard your child for you?

May I give you wisdom?

Motherhood can take you by surprise,

God makes it worth it, when you see with eyes,

He may send a friend to help,

And angel in disguise.

Hold on to wisdom,

And she and God will make you wise.

His peace,

Rebecca Jones

You have to let your child spread their wings. Even if it brings you to your knees. Calleen Petersen

Our proverb, Do not forsake wisdom and she will protect you, love her and she will watch over you. Proverbs 4:6

Beautiful Guardian

Isn’t she lovely? A youthful and pure looking guardian, she is as strong as some of the male ones and is of great comfort to this girl. It is the artistry of Johann Georg Meyer von Bremen  October 28 1813 Bremen, Germany – December 4,1886 Berlin, is commonly known as Meyer von Bremen, was a German painter who specialized in Biblical, peasant, and family scenes. He went to Düsseldorf and began his studies at the Academy of Art there, which was led by Friedrich Wilhelm Schadow, the son of sculptor Johann Gottfried Schadow. He is associated with the Düsseldorf school of painting.

In 1841, Meyer opened a studio of his own, but moved to Berlin as his fame increased (1853). While scenes from the Bible were first the subjects of his brush, he later turned his attention more popular life, especially among the Hessian peasantry, and has many works to his credit. One painting, The Letter, Hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is a wonder example of how God sends His Spirit and His angels to help us trust in Him with all our heart.

Sweet Soul Guardian

I was stepping away from these guardian angels and trying to show more powerful guardians but really these are some of the most important ones because they look out children, And I promised to post more of them as Mother’s Day is fast approaching.

Whether you have a baby, are expecting one, adopting one or fostering one or even children. Even if you are an aunt, grandma or cousin, babysitter or teacher, you can still believe guardian angels are on guard, and watching them closely.

Angels have to be charged by God in answer to prayer. So Pray Psalm 91, and other verses. And then watch how you speak about the child, when you start to worry, remember or even say aloud, ” Angels are watching. I could tell you stories, never let anyone tell you angels are not real.

Even someone who told me she wanted her daughters to live in the real world, told me when she moved away, that she would always think of me when she thought about angels. People are watching and listening, and ” read ” your living epistle.

Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. Exodus 23:20

The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Psalm 34:7

Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? Hebrews 1:14

Looking forward to a lovely Mother’s Day.

Colorful And Golden Angel

c3215cc8283b04f0ae4734f521cbbf0b

How lovely is this angel to go along with our proverb today with the sun behind him or her, The colorful and golden angel carries a sceptre and has red and gold wings, a blue and red robe with a golden sash. It is from the Vatican Museum in Rome.

It appears the angel is explains something about the sun or perhaps is a messenger of the Son of God. Whatever the case, it is a lovely work of art. And our proverb is a lovely and poetic one from Solomon, that may be it, the angel could be delivering a kind word to a soul in need. No doubt they do, through the Spirit and using believers to share God’s love.

Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a word spoken in right circumstances. Proverbs 25:11

How precious is a word of hope, have a blessed Mother’s Day week. I will post some other guardian angels this weekend.

Baby Guardians

Since children are a joy for us, it should give mothers a great joy to know that they can pray for their little ones and teach them about Jesus, the sooner the better. I have sung Jesus Loves Me and Jesus Loves the Little Ones Like Me to so many children and babies.

I charge them with your child’s care in His name and with His authority. Keep them from harm and danger, and from evil, let them sleep in heavenly peace, let them be taught by the Lrd and have great peace. Give them favor and fill them with your Spirit.

See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. Matthew 18:10

Despise, to regard with contempt, distaste, disgust, or disdain; scorn; loathe are some definitions. And to regard as bad or worthless, to look down on. Now please don’t misunderstand as some of have me, it is the bad behavior I despise, in anyone. We can all have our moments, but all day or everyday, you would have to rethink that.

And this verse also applies to God’s children, people should take care as to how they look at fellow believers and what they say. Love requires discipline, and it should be consistent, it should be with words and not in anger, that’s why the Holy Spirit is the teacher and we should listen and learn.

Lamp Angel

Angel With A Lamp 1896 Art Print by Vasnetsov Viktor.

The Angel with the Lamp was painted by Viktor Vasnetsov. He was famous for mythological and almost fairy tale like paintings. He worked in Paris and painted in a cathedral in Kiev. Two of his sons were artists as well. I particularly love the angel’s expression, head down and eyes upward.

She is holding a small lamp on front of her. It was done in 1896. Is she guiding us through life, the night or even the Psalms? It is a great representation and reminder of how He lights our way, with His word, angels and the most importantly the guidance of His precious Spirit.

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105

And of course, we are to keep our lamps or spirits lit or filled with His Spirit.  We must not let our oil run out as we study and obey His word and do His will.

The lamp is also mentioned in Proverbs, and we can hear, learn and increase in wisdom. 1:5

For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life. Proverbs 6:23

The human spirit is the lamp of the LORD that sheds light on one’s inmost being. Proverbs 20:27

We are using the NIV, lamp is also translated as candle, the Hebrew word is ner. Have you ever seen those tiny clay lamps? Not really a lot of light, so there was need of a lot of oil.

She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. Proverbs 31:18

That Proverbs 31 is real, she puts her hope in God, and even if it take s a lot of oil for the light to not go out whereas she relied on olive oil or else it would have really been dark at night, we have a constant supply of His Spirit.
