Golden Wings

Isn’t she lovely? Surely, she is a messenger with a pleasant voice and word from heaven. She is here to share a proverb today as we continue our study.

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24

This is one I want to be sure and remember, I have need healing in my bones, and pleasant words, well the Bible is full of them to pray over yourself and others, to read and speak into our daily lives. Jesus even spoke of healing words.

And we all like a something sweet don’t we? How about something sweet to the soul. God’s love is just that. His words are even better that the finest chocolates or most luscious dessert.

And she is the backdrop of my blog, see her wings. Have a sweet day in Him and remember to speak pleasant word to someone today. Rebecca Jones

Guardian

These guardian angels were so popular in reproductions in churches and Sunday School teachings, they hung in classrooms, were printed on cards and are still popular even now. this one is not a lot different depicting another type of foot bridge.

While that can be metaphorical today, it was a common routine in the 19th century for rural areas to have foot bridges over creek and streams, even in my own family, I have an ancestor who fell off one. So people needed guardians then and now.

It continues with our month on mothers and Proverbs, our verse today is, ” The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining brightly til the fullness of day. ” Proverbs 4:18. Isn’t it beautiful because the light is streaming in behind them to light the way.

Powerful Guardian

This guardian is a powerful protector of these children. This is a Catholic prayer card. No wonder we were taught to pray, ” Deliver us from evil. ”  The devil is a very real adversary. And serpents are representative of him and the are very real even in the spirit realm, you can pray and be delivered from them, and Jesus promised in Luke 10:17, that nothing would in any way harm you. Good News says He gives us safe passage through them. Most people have a fear of snakes, so we avoid them.

Unfortunately, as a believer we are a target, and need our Lord and angels to protect us. By His Spirit, He will walk us through. Fear, or caution is one thing. Fear to excess is a lie of the devil. I prayed last week for a toddler bitten by a baby rattler, It turns out they are more dangerous, they inject all their venom at once. He had 28 vials of anti venom, and thankfully did not lose his hand, arm or life.

Many people operating in spiritual gifts may see them in the spirit, but they can be bound, cast out, even in dreams and visions. Many times the snake will represent a lie, but ask the Holy Spirit to give you the gift of discernment as to trying spirits, for they can also be constrictors and even python or divination.

Psalm 91 also promises we will tread over them. That is why we need Jesus, salvation, and His promise of angelic protection and divine intervention. Rebecca Jones

Ruby Angel

I thought a nice ruby winged angel would go along well with our study of Proverbs. Of course chapter 31 describes the woman of noble character or a virtuous woman as far above rubies, and rubies are also mentioned in Proverbs 3 :13-15 as to wisdom.

Now here is wisdom, Revelation says that about the AntiChrist, and his number, many of these lovely angels are often included in card readings, it is wisdom to avoid them. And with numbers also a copy of Biblical teaching and Hebrew numerical values. Nimrod corrupted the teaching of astronomy with that of astrology. This is supposed to be the archangel Uriel and he is not mentioned in the Bible, yet there are innumerable angels aren’t there?

I do not advocate prayers to angels, even though you can ask God for protection and I do believe they obey the voice of God if believes are speaking His Word. For God has already commanded them, in Psalm 91, and He does as we need help.

Uriel, is mentioned in rabbinic tradition as being a guardian at the garden of Eden and other tasks but I do not believe he is the angel Jacob wrestled or announced Samson’s birth, There are clues to that being Jesus as He appeared as the Angel of the Lord at time in Old Testament. Remember, Jesus was there in the beginning.

As angel worship became popular, Uriel was dropped from some teaching by the Catholic church. But he was mentioned in poetry and paintings and this is a stained glass. I love learning about the work of angels, I know they have been there for me because of God’s protection.

I know also that the enemy attempts to copy God though he has far fewer angels. So his work is limited to the same old lies and deceit. I do not want you tricked, so I would advise staying away from anything that has to do with occult practice. That is wisdom, it will make you a ruby.

Don’t even be fooled about him holding a BIble, I have even heard of a lady being given communion, she spent years in a mental institute before believing and now working for a major ministry. There are false teachings out there, I pray the Holy Spirit’s guidance for us all. He will give you the gift of discernment, and God will guard you heart and mind.

Although I believe in healing and prophetic gifts, speaking in tongues, People can prophesy over you, but you must receive. There is way too much deception, never try to use the Bible with spells or curses, we want to be under God’s blessings.

I started not to post this one but I believe people should know God has better plans and better paths. May He bless you with wisdom.

Driven From Eden

The Bible actually says there was an angel with a flaming sword to keep them out. And it was a blessing, no one would have wanted to live forever in a fallen state with no hope of heaven. While our proverb today is about keeping each other sharp, this is a good object lesson.

Adam and Eve should have been thinking about each other and their relationship with God instead of trying to be like Him, they were. in a way. But their free will got in the way. That was still a good decision. God did not want anyone’s love out of fear, but reverence and respect, just because He loved them, that is why He sent Jesus.

As friends, women of faith, believers, we should be encouraging each other and making sure we sharpen our spirits like the sword of the spirit, strong and quick, a blade that lets His Word be a two edged sword  that can easily cut to the heart of the matter.

No doubt there more angels that guarded Eden, sometimes you may think one thing and it be another. God protects us in so many ways.

As iron sharpens iron, so does one person sharpen another. Proverbs 27:17

Michael With Scales

Is this how God weighs hearts? Anxiety weighs down the heart but a kind word cheers it up. Proverbs 12:25. the Archangel Michael is a powerful representation of how we are weighed in the balance or scales. We don’t want to be found wanting or lacking when it comes to our salvation or walk with God.

Michael, if a chief archangel, a prince over hem and a guardian of Israel. I believe he is the angel that is assigned to Jesus and may be the one who returns with Him, possible he and Gabriel, if it is not the Lord, Himself who is shouting at his return, Jesus was sometimes called the Angel of the Lord in the Old Testament.

God is just and the ultimate judge, He is the life giver. Heaven or hell is a choice, I would rather choose God, and no matter what we weigh, it is our heart that matters to Him. Rebecca Jones

Fountain

The fear of the Lord is a fountain of wisdom. Proverbs 14:27, our proverb is perfect with te lovely photograph of the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park. Remember, the story of the pool of Bethesda where Jesus heals a man and tells him to take up his mat and walk?

The angel at the pool of Bethesda trouble or stirred the waters at times, the first in was healed. The man had no one ot help and was unaware of who Jesus was when He asked if wanted to get well. Bethesda was mikvah bath or ritual bath before entering the temple.

We are cleansed by Jesus and we can walk right into healing, bath, fountain, or not. He touches us and makes us whole.  So yes, a healthy respect of our loving Lord is a fountain of life and healing.

I have never see this fountain but I’d like to. I love these colors and I thought it was beautiful in the snow.

Cheerful Angel

This is some of the work of Cicely Mary Barker. She was a British illustrator and drew fairies and angel, I will include a link to her biography and list of her work. Since she is probably not in the public domain I just wanted to highlight the beauty of her work and suggest not reproducing it.

No doubt she is a cheerful angel, speaking love to a little boy. And for that she goes along with out study of Proverbs, ” A cheerful heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22

Look at those cheeks, we could all use an angel like her to brighten our day and be good medicine, maybe she’s just what the doctor ordered or better still who the Lord commands.

A Mother’s Reflection

Continuing our month over mothers and proverbs, because God wants us to be Proverbs 31 women, not with unreachable expectations but know how to rest in and trust Him. Our proverb is a good one, ” As water reflect the face, so one’s life should reflect the heart. ” Proverbs 27:19

This is a lovely image, perhaps from a post card or lithograph and is early 20th century judging from the toys, I do not have an artists name.

the light and love of Jesus beams from the angel, and from mother to child. The baby is a reflection her and her love with her husband and God. He truly intended and implemented a perfect plan for humanity, and what a blessing His returning would be for believers, a veritable heaven on earth.

I pray for parents and children all the time. Many are so ill, and many mothers at their side. It doesn’t mean He does love them or care, quite opposite, He is there in the midst of a fallen earth and is able to restore all things.

Be blessed ant let your face reflect our heart, and His because your as His child. And angels are always charged and at your side.

Sense of Sight

sense-of-sight

I dare not look away,

Neither night nor day,

My heart beats for Him,

And belongs to Him.

If I step aside for a moment,

It truly longs for Him.

When we are together,

Or should I be away from Him,

It is singing songs for Him.

And He also sings them.

I dare not look away,

Neither night nor day,

From a piercing but loving gaze.

My eyes behold His face,

I hold hold His hand

And He walks with me always.

No matter the day,

Fierce devotion, will arise.

And I look to heaven,

And open my eyes.

He is my heaven,

My sense of sight,

And I love Him,

With all my heart and might.

I dare not look away,

Neither night nor day,

From the protector and perfecter of my praise.

Turning my eyes to Jesus,

And He walks with me always.

For Cynthia, who inspired me. A Mother’s Day Bonus from me.
