Hymns & Psalms

Speak to one another with the words of psalms, hymns, and sacred songs; sing hymns and psalms to the Lord with praise in your hearts.Ephesians 5:19

What a friend we have in Jesus and He has sent angels and friends to speak His love to us in hymns and psalms. As I have several blogs, I will be adding some encouragement along. I hope you enjoy the vintage angels and verses sprinkled in for September.

Lovely Angel

This lovely girl is from a Christmas post card, I cropped and lightened it a little.

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. Matthew 21:22

I ask on their behalf. I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those You have given Me; for they are Yours.        John 17:9

Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Angel And Harp

Sing a new song of praise to him; play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy. Psalm 33:3

Isn’t she just gorgeous? I will be on the lookout for more. I have seen a few very pretty one but they were on another computer. Enjoy you day and the harpist. I can almost hear her beautiful music.

Actually, she is not an angel the cloud does look like a wing though. I just noticed.

Musician

What a pretty angel going over her music! Is she gearing up for a concert for the Lord or just rehearsing with a heavenly choir. Angels are musically inclined and we can enjoy the picture but the real ones are praising the Lord today, let’s join them.

Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! Psalm 47:6

My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, And my soul, which You have redeemed. Psalm 71:23

I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. Psalm 104:33

Psalms is full of praise and worship, there are many more verses to read and study, and yes, even sing.  whether or not you play an instrument of sing, you can make a joyful noise.  From Psalm 100:1 and others.

Angel Trio

I liked this angel trio, including the sepia tone. What are they looking at though? Only the little one is smiling for the camera. I cropped it a somewhat to take off the greeting. In doing so I was getting the top of the heart. Now, it looks like a moon, that is okay too. Goodnight, angels.

Vintage Angel Girl

Turn of the century vintage angels from pre 1900  on were nothing new for postcards, there are probably hundreds or even thousands. Some have well preserved, others are in need of repair. This cutie is just perfect though, isn’t she? Standing on her cloud, she must be pointing the way to heaven.

She as a sweet look on her face. I wanted to add these vintage angels, for they are a work of art in themselves. And they can easily be printed onto cards or used for scrapbooking. I was once hoping to have T Shirt business. However you choose to use these old pictures is entirely up to you, even if you just like to look at them.

You might even find some for sale online or at an antique store of flea market, so be on the look out. The vintage angels will be a round a long time.

Guardian Angel

These little girls are often pictured in old German postcards, Greta and Hanni, the sisters went on to be silent films stars. This one has a dark sepia tone but I lightened it just a little. I wish I knew the angel’s name.

It is a good reminder to pray Psalm 91 over ourselves and children especially.

Angel Sketch

I got this public domain sketch from Karen’s Whimsy. It is likely from an old book, but I would have to research that more. I know she get lots of pictures that way. Even as a sketch, these angels are lovely and artistic. With clouds at their feet two appear to be in conversation, one is silent and the other gazing to heaven.

The wings are lovely and they are wearing either a braid or crown. Angels are prominent in art, from sketches or drawings like to the more elegant and elaborate work of art. They grace everything from cards to ceilings and were no doubt enjoyed in many old book or Bibles.

I’m going to keep an eye out for some if I run across any old books or cards, even postcards. But for now, there are these four beauties to brighten our day.

Three Angels

I cropped this from a signed Christmas card but they are cute for any occasion. It is a trio of heavenly angels and could easily be representative of faith, hope and love. How about love, joy and peace. Their cherubic face and ringlet curls are so indicative of the angels from that era.

We all need God’s heavenly angels and He has commanded them over us as Psalm 91 declares, and enjoy this lovely picture, a gift from the past, relevant to the present, and eternal as angels will be around forever.
